A mixed martial art – Muay Thai

It is not a mandatory to be a strong muscular man to learn Muay Thai. Muay Thai is a sport for every person, and it can be utilized as self defense when needed. It is not necessarily a sport for males only. Muay Thai training in Thailand was arranged for females also. To train the ladies the art of Muay Thai, special Muay Thai camp in Thailand was there. This art would help them to protect themselves and no longer depend on any man to come to save them. In Thailand, there are several female boxers who have become very successfully.

Muay Thai is a mixed martial art. It is no longer only learned by soldiers to protect their nations and themselves. It has become a professional sport from an art of battlefield and officially been accepted as a sport and chosen by Asian Games competition as sports and it is hoped to soon be chosen by the Olympic sports.

Muay Thai is more or less like boxing, where people take part in the competition and fight to become a champion. The martial art of Muay Thai still has the cultures of the old form. It somehow tells about the traditions, cultures and superstitions of Thailand. The people of Thailand excel in this sport as Muay Thai was originated in Thailand. The martial art reflects beliefs and history of Thailand.

Have you watched the Tony Jaa movies? If you have, then do you think that the fighting shown in the movies is the real techniques of Muay Thai? Well, actually they use and are inspired by some of the techniques, but there are a lot more than only those.

If you have taken classes and been trained in any kind of martial art, then it would be an advantage for you and you would be highly benefitted. Still, you would require to be taught about the beliefs and culture of the Muay Thai. With the combination of your learnt martial art and Muay Thai, you can become a far better fighter and this combo can lever your performance in the competition of boxing. A far better technique of self defense indeed!

Muay Thai is taught not only in Thailand any more. There are camps in other countries and classes arranged in schools, for example Mixed Martial Arts Academies and Lloyd Irvin’s in places like Virginia, Washington DC and many more.
